Cryptocurrency trading is not illegal, but not regulated either.

Cybersecurity expert Lyubomir Tulev said this on the air of BTV in connection with the investigation launched against the Nexo cryptocurrency trading platform.

According to him, in the middle of last year, a discussion on European regulation of this market began in the European Union and it is expected to be adopted this year.

We are always used to this regulation going after the fact, after things have already happened, added the expert.

There are detainees in the large-scale action against the Bulgarian cryptobank Nexo

"What Nexo provides as a new product is an online cryptobank.

With this platform, in addition to being able to buy cryptocurrency like any other well-known exchange platform, Nexo also gives you the option of a debit and credit card with which you can use your assets that you have in the wallet.

She allegedly allowed a citizen to trade on this platform who financed terrorist activity.

Whether this is so, we have yet to find out," commented the expert in connection with today's action by the prosecutor's office.

Tulev emphasized that these platforms have very strict control over who they allow as a user, and after a serious check - a valid identity document, an online interview, paid bills that prove where you live.
