Natural gas in Europe fell by 1.30 percent as of 10:40 a.m. Bulgarian time today compared to the closing price last night, according to data from the London ICE exchange.

February futures on the TTF (TTF) hub in the Netherlands are trading at 73.34 euros per megawatt hour, or just under $790 per 1,000 cubic meters.

This morning the exchange opened at a price of 73.50 euros per megawatt hour.

The exchange closed last night at a price of 74.31 euros per megawatt hour.

Data from Europe's largest natural gas exchange show that since December 15, the price of the blue fuel has been falling.

Then for a megawatt hour it was 134.77 euros or 1435 dollars for 1000 cubic meters.

There was a minimal price increase on the 28th and 29th of December.

After that, the price continued to fall, with the lowest price level reached on January 4 at €65.02 per megawatt hour, or just over $680 per 1,000 cubic meters.

Since yesterday, the price has increased minimally and crossed the 70 euro mark per megawatt hour. 

Natural gas in Europe is sold for 70 euros per megawatt hour

The largest price peak so far on the leading European gas exchange was recorded on August 26, 2022 - 346.52 euros per megawatt hour or about 3,500 dollars per 1,000 cubic meters, BTA recalls. 

The natural gas of "Gas Hub Balkan" in the "Day Ahead" segment with a delivery day for today increased in price by 0.43 percent to BGN 142.06 per megawatt hour compared to its price with a delivery day for yesterday of BGN 141.45 for megawatt hour.

Trading data on the Bulgarian gas exchange show that prices are constantly fluctuating.

However, since January 5, the price has remained permanently below BGN 150 per megawatt hour.
