Foxconn, which was once solely responsible for manufacturing the new iPhone Pro series, has grown closer in recent years to Luxshare's share of Apple's business as Chinese manufacturers win orders at the expense of their Taiwanese partners. Sales have risen steadily, and Foxconn is trying to reduce its dependence on China by building factories in India, Vietnam and the United States.

Foxconn's previous production disruptions have led to a shortage of iPhones, threatening to break Apple's 14 consecutive quarters of revenue growth.

Foxconn said this week that its Zhengzhou plant had ramped up production, with shipments reaching 90 percent of its December booking target.

Hon Hai declined to comment on the report, while Apple and Luxshare did not immediately respond.
