In the first months of 2023, the dollar exchange rate may increase by 2-3% - by 1-1.2 hryvnias per dollar.

However, the cash rate in January-February will primarily depend on the events at the front.

Herman Marchenko, director of Cominbank's treasury department, announced this.

According to him, fluctuations of 2-3% are possible if there are no drastic changes at the front.

At the beginning of the year, the dollar can cost from UAH 38.8 to UAH 42.2.

The expert emphasizes that in the first weeks of the new year, one should not expect big, sharp changes in the foreign exchange market.

"Given the difficult realities, it is difficult to forecast now. No forecast is able to take into account the unpredictable economic and political circumstances of the war, the consequences of hostilities. Therefore, the exchange rate situation during January-February can be cautiously characterized as "controlled": on the market, exchange rate fluctuations within 2- 3%," Marchenko noted.

In general, Marchenko is convinced, next year's currency market as a whole will depend primarily on the war and its consequences.

We will remind, according to the pessimistic forecast of the consensus group Focus Economics SL U, in 2023,

the dollar exchange rate in Ukraine

 may reach UAH 51.

Economists predict that the optimal dollar exchange rate in 2023-2024 will be at the level of 40.20-40.40 hryvnias per dollar.
