Russia will not be able to achieve a total blackout and destruction of Ukraine's energy system with missile attacks.

This opinion was expressed by Doctor of Economic Sciences

Andriy Dligach

within the framework of the joint project "Conversations about what is important" "Breakfast with "1+1" and TSN.ua.

"First of all, the risks certainly remain, although according to the analysis of our intelligence officers, according to various assessments of military experts, Russia still has the possibility of 2-3 to 5 missile attacks like the ones we have already seen.

And even if they try to concentrate these efforts on the Ukrainian energy infrastructure, a total blackout, a total destruction of the Ukrainian energy system will not happen anyway

. We did this simulation with various organizations and we see that it is actually impossible," said the economist.

Nevertheless, says Dligach, "mass blackouts and what the prime minister is talking about,

blackouts for 5-7 days, are quite likely, we need to prepare for them

."

According to the expert, the consequences of the blackout for the economy will not be as devastating "than what we already got in February-March of this year."

"

This year, the blackout added approximately 2-3% to the drop in Ukrainian GDP

, in total by the end of the year we will lose about 35-37% of GDP, maybe a little more. This figure will not change significantly. In fact, the blackout, such shelling will lead to the fact that about only 7% of enterprises stop completely and about 20% partially.

This is not destructive for the Ukrainian economy, we will survive for sure

, "he said.

We will remind, the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said that the exit from the most difficult case of a complete blackout may last 7-10 days.

"In the most difficult case of a complete blackout, when everything is completely broken, the output will last from 7 to 10 days. This is according to the calculations of our energy experts. I emphasize that these are theoretical calculations, because the world has not yet experienced such things," he said.

Shmyhal previously announced the creation of a parallel energy system in Ukraine, powered by generators independently of the central one.

The Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure, Oleksandr Kubrakov, said that as a result of shelling by the Russian army in Ukraine

, about half of the critical electric power infrastructure was significantly damaged.

At most - some objects were completely destroyed.
