The National Bank of Ukraine, together with all systemically important banks, created a national POWER BANKING network that will work even in

blackout

conditions .

This was reported by the press service of the NBU.

This is a joint network of bank branches throughout Ukraine, which will work and provide banking services to clients even in a critical situation during a blackout.

Branches of the national network are equipped with alternative energy sources and backup communication channels, have enhanced cash collection and additional staff.

Today, the POWER BANKING network unites all 14 systemically important banks, the branches of which have become the basis of this network, and involves other participants of the banking market.

Currently, more than 1,000 branches in all regions of the country are additionally equipped to work during a blackout (about 80% of them are branches of systemically important banks).

During a blackout, a certain list of urgent banking services will be available to all clients in POWER BANKING branches:

  • receiving cash (at ATMs or at the cash desk);

  • payments, money transfer (at the cash desk or self-service terminals);

  • currency exchange (if cash is available at the cash desk);

  • consulting managers on financial issues.

In addition, ATM national roaming has been introduced in branches of the POWER BANKING network.

Its purpose is to provide Ukrainians with the opportunity to withdraw an increased amount of cash from an ATM of any network bank, sufficient to meet current needs and build up a certain reserve.

What the NBU is preparing to do during a possible blackout

In Ukraine, a list of

760 regular bank branches

, which provide financial services even in conditions of prolonged blackout, has been determined.

The NBU also plans to create a network of about

1,000 branches with backup sources of electricity.

In addition, the National Bank is negotiating with gas station chains so that cash can also be withdrawn from their cash registers.

"Oschadbank" canceled commissions

for withdrawing cash at ATMs from cards of all banks.

Large banks of Ukraine have decided to

increase the limit of cash withdrawals

from ATMs.

So, at "PrivatBank" this amount is 20,000 hryvnias, and at "Oschadbank" - 50,000 hryvnias.

During the last meeting of the Staff of the Commander-in-Chief, the country's leadership discussed the

protection of the banking system in case of attacks by Russia.
