At the same time, there was an increase of $ 2.91 billion in the total foreign exchange reserves of the country last week.

In the week ended December 9, foreign exchange reserves had increased to $ 564.06 billion.

During this, there was a rise in currency reserves for the fifth consecutive week.

Currency reserves at all-time high in October 2021

Let us tell you that in October 2021, Foreign Exchange Reserves had reached an all-time high of $ 645 billion.

In the midst of global developments, the central bank is using currency reserves to prevent the continuous decline in the exchange rate of the rupee against foreign currencies.

This is a major reason for the decline in currency reserves.

RBI sold USD 33.42 billion till September

Recently, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman was asked in the Lok Sabha whether RBI is using foreign exchange reserves to stop the fall in the Indian currency.

In response to this question, Sitharaman said that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has made a net sale of US $ 33.42 billion by September 2022 to prevent the decrease in the value of the Indian Rupee.

There was also a decrease in foreign currency assets last week.

According to the weekly data released by the Central Bank i.e. RBI, there has also been a decrease in Foreign Currency Asset in the last week.

It is an important part of the country's total currency reserves.

Foreign currency assets (FCA) declined to $499.624 billion in the week ended December 16.

Foreign currency assets (FCAs) form a significant part of the total foreign exchange reserves.

Foreign currency assets expressed in dollars also include the effects of appreciation or depreciation in non-US currencies such as the euro, pound and yen.

The country's gold reserve decreased to $ 40.579 billion

Apart from this, in the week ending December 16, there has also been a decline in the gold reserves of the country.

Last week, the value of gold reserve has decreased by $150 million and it has come down to $40.579 billion.

Whereas during the week ending December 9, there was a decrease of $ 150 million in the value of gold reserves.

During this period the value of gold reserves had come down to $40.729 billion.
