On Monday, December 19, the US

Congress

released a draft law on state funding in the amount of $1.7 trillion. Of these, $44.9 billion will be allocated for emergency assistance to Ukraine and NATO allies.

Reuters writes about it.

As Reuters reports, next year the United States will adopt a record defense budget, which will amount to 858 billion dollars and exceed last year's, which amounted to 740 billion dollars.

Leaders of the Senate and House of Representatives aim to pass the bill and send it to President Joe Biden by the end of the week to ensure there are no government disruptions.

For months, Democrats and Republicans have argued over how much money should be spent on military and non-military programs.

It will be recalled that on December 15, the US Senate approved a bill with a record defense budget of 858 billion dollars for 2023.

The document was sent to President Joe Biden for signature.

The draft law also provides for military assistance to other countries.

In particular,

800 million dollars is intended for Ukraine

.

It is also assumed that 6 billion dollars will go to the European Deterrence Initiative, which was launched in 2014 after the annexation of Crimea by the Russian Federation.
