The incomes of Ukrainians in 2022 were reduced by a third due to the full-scale war unleashed by Russia.

Economist, teacher of the Kyiv-Mohyla business school

Oleksiy Gerashchenko

told about this  in an interview with TSN.ua.

Gerashchenko noted that the purchasing power of people is reduced in accordance with the reduction of GDP.

"On average , the well-

being of every Ukrainian has fallen by the same 1/3 as our GDP

. This means that the average Ukrainian has lost 30-35% of his well-being. It is clear that this is an uneven figure - for some it is 50%, for someone it has lost almost everything, someone on the contrary added. This is an average number, but it shows the situation in society as a whole," the economist explained.

We will remind you that Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said on December 13 that the reduction of the economy of Ukraine at the end of the year is expected to be at the level of 35-40%.

"If Russia's terrorist activity against our infrastructure continues, we may lose another 10% to these figures, i.e. up to 50% of our GDP," Shmyhal said.

In the budget for 2023, which the Verkhovna Rada adopted on November 3, the GDP growth forecast was adjusted towards a conservative scenario (3.2% instead of 4.6%).

An unprecedentedly large deficit of 20% of GDP is laid in the 2023 budget.
