After the clear regulation of the compensation mechanism for the destroyed housing of Ukrainians as a result of Russian aggression, Ukraine expects from its Western partners a quick decision on the transfer of the frozen assets of the Russian Federation to our country.

Such an opinion was expressed by People's Deputy of Ukraine, member of the political party "FOR THE FUTURE" Serhii Labaziuk on the telethon of Yedyny Novyny.

It is worth noting that according to the preliminary calculations of the Office of the President, we are talking about 330 billion dollars, which are currently frozen in the West.

According to the parliamentarian, these funds should be used to compensate Ukrainians who lost their homes in whole or in part during the war in the occupied and already de-occupied territories.

"We passed a law that clearly regulates the procedure for reimbursing the cost of housing. And we expect that after the document is signed by the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada and the President, our partners and donors will make a decision as soon as possible on the confiscation of Russian money and its transfer to Ukraine. This will allow Ukrainians to live normally in the new or repaired own housing. The aggressor should pay for the destruction, and his funds should become a key resource for the further reconstruction of Ukraine," Labaziuk said.

We will remind, on December 13, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted in the second reading the draft law No. 7198 on the compensation of funds for destroyed real estate.

Applications for compensation will be accepted during martial law and for one year after its termination.

This can be done through "Diya", as well as at the National Social Security Agency, social security agencies or notaries.

Commissions will work in every community affected by hostilities.

Their task is to conduct an examination of housing and determine the amount of compensation.

It was previously reported that as of July of this year, approximately 800,000 Ukrainians were left without housing that was completely destroyed or in need of serious repair due to the war waged by Russia against Ukraine.

More than 220,000 people left applications for compensation on the Diya portal.
