Software giant Microsoft announced today that it has entered into an agreement to make the hit video game series Call of Duty available to Nintendo for the next 10 years, after its acquisition of the manufacturer of video games "Activiison Blizzard" (Activiison Blizzard) will be approved, the Associated Press reported.

This is a clear attempt to repel the objections of the competitor "Sony" (Sony), AP adds.

The successful merger is subject to ongoing review by regulatory authorities in the US, Europe and elsewhere.

Microsoft, the maker of the Xbox game console, is facing opposition from Sony, which makes rival PlayStation, and has raised concerns with antitrust authorities that it will lose access to so-called " must" game title.

Microsoft president Brad Smith tweeted his thanks to Nintendo, which makes the Switch game console, noting that the same offer was available to Sony.

Smith said the deal will allow Call of Duty to reach more gamers and more platforms, which is "good for competition and good for consumers."

The European press service of "Sony" did not comment on the news, writes BTA.

At the heart of the dispute is control over future releases of Activision Blizzard's most popular games, most notably Call of Duty, the first first-person shooter video game franchise.

Activision reported last month that the latest installment, "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2" (Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2) has brought in more than $1 billion in sales since its release on October 28.
