The European Commission has announced that it is providing eight million euros for the opening of six more hubs to counter disinformation in the EU.

It is planned to create a separate Bulgarian-Romanian center for combating disinformation, which will start working next year, BTA reported.

The remaining similar centers will operate in Croatia and Slovenia;

Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania;

Germany and Austria;

Hungary;

Greece, Malta and Cyprus.

In 2020, hubs were opened for Belgium and the Netherlands;

Central Europe;

Spain;

Luxembourg;

France;

Italy.

The work of the new organizations will include university researchers, independent fact-checkers, media officials.

They will seek to detect and evaluate disinformation campaigns, and organize media literacy courses.

The Commission notes that from next year all EU countries will be covered by the activities of the hubs.

As part of the activity, it is envisaged that the participants will constantly exchange data on detected disinformation activities.
