Spain producer price inflation continued to slow in October, reaching its lowest level in just over a year amid a sharp drop in energy prices, according to data from the National Statistics Institute (INE) in Madrid, published today and cited by DPA.

Producer prices in Spain rose 26.1 percent last month on an annual basis, well below the 35.6 percent level they reached in September.

This is their slowest rate of increase since last September, when they were up 23.8 percent year-on-year.

Energy prices in Spain still saw a strong increase of 54.1 percent year-on-year in October, but this was much less than the 82.7 percent they jumped the previous month.

The slowdown in energy price increases is largely due to lower prices for the production, transmission and distribution of electricity in the country.

On a monthly basis, producer prices fell by 1.4 percent in October after remaining unchanged in September.
