[Reporter Wu Xintian/Taipei Report] my country, the Philippines, Israel, Maldives, Sri Lanka and Cambodia, a total of 6 Asian countries, today (28th) signed the "Asian Information Access Alliance Joint Declaration" and established the "Asian Information Access Alliance" ( Asian Access to Information Alliance (AAIA for short).

This time, my country joined the AAIA as a founding member under the official country name "Republic of China (Taiwan)", and Shi Kehe, the vice chairman of the National Development Council, attended the signing ceremony of the joint declaration.

Please read on...

The National Development Council stated that AAIA is a multilateral organization established on the basis of freedom of speech, information disclosure and citizen empowerment, with the goal of safeguarding democracy.

The "Asian Information Access Alliance Joint Declaration" states that the AAIA is formed based on trust, openness, and commitment to democracy. Through joint cooperation, the protection and maintenance of democracy is achieved, and it believes that freedom of speech, information disclosure and information accessibility are citizens' rights Fundamental rights claim that "information" plays a very important role in agenda building, decision-making, and the process of national development and transformation.

Shi Kehe said in his speech that the experience of the epidemic has made us realize that only open and transparent information and sound citizen participation can strengthen the resilience of the democratic system.

As a reliable partner of the international community, Taiwan is willing to actively share Taiwan's development experience in information openness and civic participation with other countries through various cooperation mechanisms, and make practical contributions to the deepening of regional democracy.

After the establishment of AAIA, the charter will be developed by the Philippines and the founding member states in the future.

As a founding member state, the National Development and Development Council stated that it will continue to cooperate with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other relevant units to participate in AAIA-related work, and to share my country's achievements in open government and freedom of information, promote cooperation and exchanges with the Asian region, and enhance international multilateral participation.
