Gautam Adani has also reached number two in the list of real-time billionaires compiled by Forbes.

New Delhi:

The total market capitalization of the Adani group companies on the Bombay Stock Exchange now exceeds Rs 22 lakh crore, making the Gautam Adani-led conglomerate the number one in the country in terms of capitalisation, with the Adani Group achieving this feat. Only the Tata-led group has been left behind.

The market valuation of BSE-listed shares of all Adani Group companies (total nine firms including the recently acquired Ambuja Cement and ACC Ltd.) at the close of the market on Friday rose to over Rs 22 lakh crore.

The Adani Group thus overtook the listed Tata Group (consisting of 27 firms) with a market capitalization (market cap) of over Rs 20 lakh crore.

Mukesh Ambani's conglomerate of nine companies with a market capitalization of over Rs 17 lakh crore is at the third position in the list.

This reflects a huge jump in the stock of the Adani Group, which propelled Gautam Adani to become the world's third richest person on the Forbes billionaires list.

Adani has overtaken Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.

Elon Musk and Louis Vuitton's Bernard Arnault are ahead of him.

However, Adani surpassed Louis Vuitton's Bernard Arnault on Friday with a net valuation of $154.7 billion and pushed Bernard Arnault to No. 3, occupying the No. 2 list of real-time billionaires compiled by Forbes.
