Among services, railway transport increased the most during the month (+9.6%).

We look at the average prices for products published by Belstat and compare them with the prices in stores.

According to Belstat, a liter of milk cost 1.76 rubles in August, e-dostavka offers a liter of 1.7% fat milk for 1.54 rubles.

According to Belstat, potatoes cost 1.21 rubles per kilogram in August, e-dostavka sells them even at 1.19 rubles per kilogram.

According to Belstat, cucumbers cost 1.52 rubles in August, in the store we can find them for 3.49 rubles per kilogram, or 2.2 times more expensive.

Boneless pork, according to the statistical office, cost 14 rubles per kilogram in August, in the store we can find pork at 14.2 rubles per kilogram.

As we can see, in general, Belstat information corresponds to reality (they take average prices for goods throughout the country).

Are vegetables always so cheap in August?

To understand why vegetables have become so cheap in a month, let's compare the prices in the same period last year.

  • During the month (July-August) last year, pepper decreased by 1.4 times, tomatoes by 24%, cucumbers by 1.29%, onions by 10%.

As we can see, the decrease in prices for vegetables in August compared to July is a seasonal phenomenon.

How prices have changed over the year

Price growth, i.e. inflation, is usually calculated on an annual basis, and it is quite high in Belarus.

In August, annual inflation was 17.9%.
