Will charging an EV soon become more expensive than a full tank of gas? The new maximum price an electricity and gas supplier can charge a British household is rising by 80 per cent.

According to a publication of "Glasgow Live" (Glasgow Live), the price of one charge of an electric car can in some cases exceed that of filling the tank with fuel.
The Scottish publication refers to a study by the British insurance company RAC (RAC), according to which the price of fully charging an electric car with a 64 kilowatt-hour battery will become 33.80 British pounds (39.60 euros) compared to 18.37 pounds (21 .50 euros) at the moment.
Prices at public charging stations will jump from 50 pence per kilowatt hour (€0.60) to 86 pence per kilowatt hour (€1.01).
This will make long-distance travel more expensive for owners of electric cars than for owners of cars with internal combustion engines.
Those who use their electric car only to go to work and back, charging it at home, will not be spared either.
Fully charging a standard family-size electric SUV will cost 84 percent more as of Oct. 1, noted Rod Dennis, a spokesman for the insurance company that conducted the study.

As a concrete example, RAC indicates how much it will cost to charge a "Jaguar i-PACE (Jaguar i-PACE). A model with an internal combustion engine will travel 400 km for 50 pounds (58.60 euros). For the electric model, the price can jumps to £99 (€116) for the same distance, making it almost double the price.
