The Internet platform will present summary information about the opportunities for tourism in the Bulgarian-Greek cross-border region, said at a press conference Georgi Pamporov, chairman of the Union of Rhodope Hoteliers and Restaurateurs (SRHR), quoted by BTA.

The platform is being developed under the project "Intelligent marketing strategies for tourism in the cross-border area Bulgaria - Greece", funded by the program "Interreg VA Greece - Bulgaria 2014 - 2020".

Within the project a partnership network is being built with the participation of hoteliers, tour operators, representatives of the tourism business on both sides of the border.

Minister Prodanov from Chirpan: Municipalities, business and the state to work for the development of tourism

Over 3000 functioning accommodation and catering facilities, companies offering various tourist services and products, ski schools, mountain guides, guides and information centers from the cross-border area are included in the database created by the project.

The information from the database will be used both in the development of the Internet platform and in future marketing strategies.

One of the main goals of the project is to stimulate cooperation between Bulgarian and Greek representatives of the tourism industry for joint advertising of the cross-border region.

The project team has conducted marketing research during the winter and summer seasons, summarizing the preferences and expectations of tourists visiting the Rhodopes and the region.

During the discussions and meetings organized within the project with tour operators from the country, new routes and tourist products are presented, unfolding on Bulgarian and Greek territory.

Hoteliers' expectations are focused on the prospect of opening a Rudozem border checkpoint, which will significantly boost tourist traffic on both sides of the border.

The developed internet platform is a product for collective marketing, representing the tourist region.

According to Georgi Pamporov, the marketing research of the Bulgarian part of the cross-border area on the territory of the districts of Smolyan, Haskovo and Kardzhali gives an up-to-date reading of the interest of tourists in the region.
