After the peaks in April, we have a calming of the market, a balanced meeting between supply and demand.

This was said in the program "Speak Now" on BNT Vladimir Ivanov - Chairman of the State Commission on Commodity Exchanges and Markets.

"These are the data of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. Absolutely all indices in basic food products are declining. The curve is reversing," he said.

There is a certain stabilization of prices not only on the European but also on the world market.

Bulgaria expects a very good grain harvest and will be secured, Ivanov assured.

With regard to sunflowers, the hope is that there will be no climatic surprises before the harvest.

"We are entering a kind of normalcy, as we have had an abnormal situation on the world market for 5-6 months. And no one can say anything about the grain - fortunately Bulgaria will have a very good harvest, close to the record," said Vladimir Ivanov. .

According to him, there are two hypotheses about Russian grain - the country will either export and try to collapse the world market, or stop selling at all.

"I am far from thinking that the Russian Federation will stop selling grain, the question is where it will sell it and how it will happen. As long as there is a military conflict and there is strong political opposition, the market cannot be calm."

In the second hypothesis - if Russia stops exporting grain, there may be a shortage on world markets, but in Bulgaria - no.

Only if there is a deficit on world markets, Bulgaria will have to limit exports.

"However, all these are hypotheses. Bulgaria has a unique chance to have a well-developed grain sector, a well-developed processing sector in terms of oil and for these two products we provide 100% and over 100%," said Vladimir Ivanov.

There is a heavy production and a pretty good harvest of Bulgarian vegetables is expected this year.

Consumers will see lower prices, another question is what will be the financial result of producers, said Ivanov.

By September we will have a very good supply of fresh vegetables.

However, no major reduction is expected in one of the main vegetables - tomatoes.

Tomatoes and cucumbers continue to fall in price in markets

"Tomatoes will not be too cheap, as they are too expensive to look at. There will be levels between BGN 2 - 2.50, lower quality, of course, and extra tomatoes, greenhouses. Wholesale prices will be in some average value. It is very important that the climate is with us now. "

Vladimir Ivanov called on people not to subsidize incorrect market practices.

"There are people motivated by their own greed - it is easy to recognize. We can see wholesale prices and where we notice that someone is abusing, not to cooperate - not to buy," he said.
