The projects will be approved based on the principles of PM Gatishakti.

New Delhi:

All projects involving logistics and connectivity infrastructure worth more than Rs 500 crore will now have to seek approval from the Network Planning Group (NPG) constituted under the PM Gatishakti initiative.

An official gave this information.

The Finance Ministry has issued necessary instructions in this regard.

The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has also created a National Master Plan Digital Platform.

PM Gatishakti Yojana was announced last year with an aim to break the departmental 'closet' and bring in more holistic and integrated planning in the implementation of projects.

It aims to address the issue of multi-modal and last mile connectivity.

This will bring down the cost of logistics and help promote more effective and efficient planning in infrastructure projects, the official said.

An Integrated Infrastructure Network Planning Group (NPG) has also been constituted consisting of representatives of various departments/ministries concerned with connectivity.

The Head of Network Planning Division in NPG is involved for planning and integration of proposals.

“We have created a national master plan digital platform.

We have provided training to the concerned people and now we have this mandatory provision from the finance ministry.

Therefore, now all logistics and connectivity projects will be approved based on the principles of PM Gatishakti.

All projects above Rs 500 crore will be considered by NPG.

DPIIT has conducted several training sessions with various government departments and also organized regional conferences in the states.

All infrastructure projects will come under NPG.

A unit has also been formed for technical support.

All departments will have to approach the NPG before preparing the Detailed Project Report (DPR), the official said.

After the approval of the NPG, the project will have to take the approval of the Finance Ministry and the Cabinet under the normal procedure.
