Exports from Belarus to EU countries, despite sanctions, do not stop.

This is evidenced by recent data that Svaboda received from Eurostat.

468 million euros - for this amount Belarus sold products and goods to the EU in March.

In February (and the war started only at the end of the month), Belarus' exports to the EU amounted to 436 million euros, which is 6.8% during the war.

According to the academic director of Beroc Ekaterina Barnukova, this may be due to the fact that February is a short month, and that the sanctions have not yet worked in full.

“Growth compared to February is not an indicator, because February is a short month.

We see a decline compared to January, which is a bigger month, and there are just mineral products that have come under sanctions, as well as chemicals, including fertilizers, "- says Ekaterina Barnukova.

Compared to January, sales of Belarusian goods in the EU in March fell by 45 million euros.

What products and goods the EU bought in Belarus in March

In March, the EU bought the most timber and wood products in Belarus for 140 million euros.

In second place - non-precious metals and articles thereof: 85.9 million euros.

The EU also bought mineral products from Belarus - for 53.6 million euros, machinery and mechanical appliances - for 25.6 million euros.

“Sanctions were imposed in late February, and they were supposed to take effect immediately.

Surprisingly, there is an increase in exports of metals and wood, as these categories of goods have come under sanctions.

It is possible that contracts were simply closed there or the sanctions did not come into force, ”Katsyaryna Barnukova says.
