The American company "Netflix" (Netflix) announced that it has cut about 2% of its staff in an attempt to save money, after the growth in the thriving business with streaming services reported a slowdown, AFP reported.

"These changes are driven primarily by the needs of the business, not the individual results, which makes them particularly difficult, as none of us want to see such great colleagues go," a Netflix spokesman told AFP.

Nearly 150 employees have been laid off, mostly in the United States, the spokesman said, adding that the company has also reduced the number of external subcontractors.

A few weeks before the decision, Netflix announced that subscribers had fallen for the first time in more than a decade.
