Egypt was the first to score through defender Rami Rabia in the sixth minute, but Croatia responded a quarter of an hour later with Italian Torino striker Nikola Vlasic (21), before Dinamo Zagreb striker Bruno Petkovic added the second (57) and the substitute was reinforced by German Hoffenheim striker Andrei Kramaric in the third (77). German Wolfsburg defender Lovro Mayer concludes the festival with the fourth (86), while the other Al-Ahly defender Mohamed Abdel Moneim reduced the score in stoppage time (90 + 4).

The Pharaohs put pressure from the beginning and succeeded in opening the scoring early when Mahmoud Hassan “Trezeguet” shot a ball from a direct free kick on the edge of the area, which was cleared by goalkeeper Nedeljko Labrovic and prepared for Mohamed Hamdy, who crossed it, and Rabiaa followed it up with a shot into the net (6).

Croatia imposed its control after the goal, led by veteran Spanish Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric in an attempt to equalize the tie, and goalkeeper Mohammed Abu Jabal saved his goal from an achieved goal by blocking the header of Saudi Al-Nasr midfielder Marcelo Brozovic (17).

Eintracht Frankfurt striker Omar Marmoush led a counterattack and passed a through ball to French Nantes striker Mustafa Mohamed, who was alone and shot a volley that bounced off the right post before Labrovic controlled it (18).

Croatia's pressure resulted in the equalizer when Modric passed the ball to Vlasic on the outskirts of the area, and he shot it and deceived Abu Jabal by hitting the crossbar and into the net (21).

The pressure on the Pharaohs' confused defense increased, and Mayer shot a powerful ball that hit Abdel Moneim's foot and passed next to the left post (34).

Petkovic wasted a good opportunity when he received a cross from Marko Piacha, but he shot it awkwardly with his left hand over the empty goal (45 + 3).

Petkovic compensated at the beginning of the second half by giving his country the lead when he took advantage of a corner kick by the specialist and captain Mordic and followed it up with a header to the right of Abu Jabal (57).

The Pharaohs' performance improved slightly after the goal, and Trezeguet penetrated from the right side and dribbled past Bayer Leverkusen's German defender Josip Stanic and shot the ball near the left post for substitute goalkeeper Dominik Kotarski (62), and Marmoush shot a direct free kick that the latter controlled (65).

Croatia responded with an organized attack that ended with a through pass deep into the Pharaohs' defense to substitute Mario Pasalic inside the area, but he shot it over the crossbar (72).

Croatia succeeded in strengthening when Meyer played a ball from a direct free kick, which Kramaric, Petkovic's replacement, headed to the right of Abu Jabal (77).

Meyer dealt the final blow to the Pharaohs by scoring the fourth goal when Kramaric returned the gift with a pass from a counterattack that he followed from the edge of the area to the upper left corner of Abu Jabal’s goal (86).

Abdel Moneim reduced the difference in the fourth minute of stoppage time when he received a ball from a corner kick by his Al-Ahly club teammate Mohamed Hani and headed it to the right of the goalkeeper.
