Legendary South African batsman Jacques Kallis

Paarl (South Africa):

South African cricket great Jacques Kallis believes that the current era batsmen lack patience and prefer to bat aggressively instead of defensive batting in difficult situations in Test matches. The batsman, who scored the most Test centuries (45) after Sachin Tendulkar, said that it is still under consideration whether this attitude of the current batsmen is right or wrong. India's Test match against South Africa on a fast bowler-friendly pitch in Cape Town ended in 106 overs within two days.

Asked if the Test match scenario has changed because of the over-aggressive batsmen, Kallis said, referring to the Newlands pitch, "I think it has changed. If the pitch gives even a little help to the bowlers, the batsmen do not like to see patience," said one of the best all-rounders of his time, "Earlier batsmen used to bat patiently to recover from that period, but the players of this era want to overcome the pressure by playing big shots. Whether it's good or bad, time will decide."

Talking about the wicket offer in the second Test of the two-match series, in which South Africa were all out for 55 runs in their first innings and India lost the last six wickets without adding any runs, Kallis also expressed his views. Kallis, who lives in Cape Town, believes that there was no shortage in this pitch. "I don't think it was the fastest pitch we've ever seen. The bounce here was uneven and the ball was swinging more. "It is disappointing that it happened that day, but India beat South Africa on a difficult pitch."
