The Israeli army did not immediately confirm the authenticity of the report, which stated that a site in Nuseirat in central Gaza was bombed two days ago based on intelligence information indicating that Issa, who is believed to be the second-in-command in Hamas’ military wing, was there.
Reports say that 5 Palestinians were killed in the Israeli raid, while it is not known whether Issa was among them.
The Times of Israel also said that Hamas is still verifying whether Issa was killed in the raid.
Israel says that its most prominent goal in the war on Gaza is to defeat the Hamas movement, and insists on invading the city of Rafah in the south of the Gaza Strip in order to eliminate the remaining brigades of the movement.
