Winter maintenance in the country in areas with an altitude below 500 meters is suspended from today.

This was announced in Montana by engineer Yasen Yordanov, chairman of the Management Board of the Road Infrastructure Agency (API).

The reason for the premature measure is the warm weather, which allowed API to stop winter maintenance in the country, said engineer Yordanov.

"The time is right so that we no longer deal with winter maintenance in the low and warm regions," he pointed out.

On Sunday - March 10, the organization of traffic in a section of the Burgas - Sozopol road near the village will be changed.

The passes remain in winter maintenance mode, as snow falls on the higher parts, such as "Petrokhan", even in May.

About BGN 70-80 million from the winter maintenance in the country is diverted to cleaning ditches and overhanging branches.

"They must be mowed and cleaned, they must be cleared of overhanging branches, which are dangerous especially for heavy-duty trucks," explained the expert.
