Biden pointed to the great tragedy that the Palestinians are experiencing in the Gaza Strip as a result of the Israeli war against Hamas.

He said: “This year comes at a moment of tremendous pain. The war in Gaza has caused terrible suffering for the Palestinian people. More than 30,000 Palestinians have been killed, most of them civilians, including thousands of children. Some of them are family members of American Muslims, who feel deep sorrow for their loss. Loved ones lost today. The war has displaced nearly two million Palestinians; many of them in desperate need of food, water, medicine and shelter. As Muslims around the world gather over the coming days and weeks to break their fast, the suffering of the Palestinian people will be at the forefront of the minds of many. It's something on my mind too."

Increase aid

He said that the United States "will continue to lead international efforts aimed at delivering more humanitarian aid to Gaza by land, air and sea."

He stated that earlier this week, “our military forces were directed to lead an emergency mission to establish a temporary dock on the Gaza coast that can receive large shipments of aid. We are conducting air drops of aid, in coordination with our international partners, including Jordan.”

“We will continue to work with Israel to expand deliveries by land, while insisting on facilitating more roads and opening more crossings to deliver more aid to more people.”

cease-fire

Biden said that “as we get more life-saving aid to Gaza, the United States will continue to work nonstop to achieve an immediate and sustainable ceasefire for at least six weeks as part of the hostage release deal.”

He stressed his vision of the necessity of reaching a two-state solution, saying: We will continue to build towards a long-term future of stability, security and peace.

This includes a two-state solution to ensure that Palestinians and Israelis share equal standards of freedom, dignity, security and prosperity.

This is the only path to lasting peace.”

Hatred against Muslims

The US President referred to hate incidents that occurred against Muslim Americans, saying: “Here at home, we have witnessed a horrific renewal of hatred and violence towards Muslim Americans. Hatred of Islam has absolutely no place in the United States, a country that was founded on freedom of worship and built on the contributions of immigrants, Including Muslim immigrants.

The first national strategy to combat Islamophobia

He explained that his government is developing "the first-ever national strategy to combat Islamophobia and related forms of prejudice and discrimination, to confront hatred against the Muslim, Sikh, South Asian, and Arab American communities, wherever it exists."

“No one should ever fear being targeted at school, at work, on the street or in their community because of their background or beliefs.”

The US President concluded with a message to Muslims across the country: “Please know that you are highly valued members of our American family. To those who are grieving during this time of war, I hear you and I see you, and I pray that you find solace in your faith, your family, and your community. And to all who celebrate As Ramadan begins tonight, I wish you a safe, healthy and blessed month. Ramadan Kareem.”
