A 59-year-old man from Petrica died during a hike in Pirin yesterday, around 3 p.m.

In front of his company, with whom he undertook the trek, near the bungalows of "Spano Pole", Dr. Veselin Alishakhov complained that he was sick, collapsed to the ground and died.

A team of PSS Sandanski was immediately called to provide assistance, but it was too late for Dr. Alishakhov, who is a well-known personal physician in the city, reports Struma.com.

The cause of death is given as a heart attack.

All the people with whom the deceased man was with until the end were questioned, who said that the accident happened while they were walking one after the other towards the "Spanopolski chukar" area.

This is the second such case of death in Pirin, after a tourist hike that took place in recent days.

A week ago, a man from Sofia died in front of his wife while climbing Pirin above Bansko.
