Seventy suspected members of the Islamic State (Daesh) jihadist group have been detained in a large-scale anti-terror operation launched in 16 Turkish districts. This was announced by Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya on his account on the social network X.
The Kahramanlar-40 action started on January 9 and ended successfully today, Yerlikaya said.
Operations were carried out in a total of 16 districts, including Ankara, where 16 people were detained. Ten people were detained in Istanbul. Many documents, including digital ones, of the group have been seized, the interior minister added.

In 2013, Turkey was one of the first countries to include Islamic State in its list of terrorist organizations. Since then, the country has been the group's target on numerous occasions, with at least 300 suicide attacks, seven bomb attacks and four armed attacks that killed at least <> people and injured hundreds more.
