In 1959, the Princess of Monaco,
Grace Kelly,
faced health problems - for some time she was troubled by appendicitis. Therefore, it was decided to perform an appendectomy.
The operation was planned in Switzerland, where the princess flew on March 31. Philadelphia surgeon Dr. James A. Lehman performed the operation. Before the operation, the princess held several Easter events.
First, there was a reception at which Grace appeared in a laconic suit, with a voluminous hairstyle and jewelry, among which you can see an elegant brooch in the form of a flower.

This reception was followed by a gala concert in the evening at the Sports Club of Monaco. For this event, Kelly already wore an evening dress and a massive necklace.
Princess Grace of Monaco didn't seem worried about her upcoming appendix surgery. By the way, her surgeon Lehman was also invited to a reception in Monaco.

However, 1959 was not a bad year for the princess either. Already in the summer, the paparazzi took a photo of Grace, when she boarded Aristotle Onassis's yacht with a bandaged hand. Grace and her husband, Rainier, were on their way to a dinner party in Monaco's harbor. The palace said at the time that the princess had been stung by a wasp two days earlier at her summer residence in Mont-Agel and was in severe pain.
