At Prague's Bulovka University Hospital, a fatal accident resulted in an abortion error. The staff performed the manipulation on a healthy woman in her fourth month as a result of the patient's confusion. This was confirmed by the hospital's spokeswoman, Eva Stoleyda Libigerova, BTV reported.

The staff who performed the abortion has been suspended.

The patients are reported to be two foreign women who live permanently in the Czech Republic. The injured pregnant woman went for a routine checkup, while the other had to undergo a procedure that is done to treat a diseased uterus but can also be used to terminate a pregnancy. According to a hospital spokesperson, the fetus was 16 weeks old.

There is a fatal confusion and the woman who came for a control examination has an abortion.

The hospital is working to ensure that the victim will be compensated.

"We have expressed our deepest regret and apologies to the patient and her entire family for this unfortunate event and have assured her that we are doing everything possible to minimize the harm caused and also compensate her," the hospital said in a statement.

The spokesperson also added that the affected personnel are currently on standby. "If violations of mandatory work procedures are identified as part of the ongoing internal investigation, the specific individuals will be held personally accountable."
