The charitable organization FoodBank Ukraine supports the work of hot kitchens throughout Ukraine. To ensure the cleanliness of charity kitchens, brands Domestos, Cif, SAVO and Coccolino joined the initiative.

As a result of the war, a large part of Ukrainians found themselves in conditions where it is impossible to provide for themselves with the most elementary and most necessary - cooking hot food. Settlements located close to the contact line in Kharkiv, Donetsk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions have become particularly vulnerable, as even delivering food there is risky and difficult. Because of the danger, the lack of gas, electricity, shops and transport, the life of people in these territories has become extremely difficult.

In order to at least partially cover the needs of citizens, the charitable organization FoodBank Ukraine, with the financial support of partners and together with local charitable organizations, ensures the operation of hot kitchens. These are specially equipped premises where food is prepared and then delivered to distribution points. In total, there are 21 such points in the cities and villages of Ukraine. Such kitchens operate in Kharkiv, Dnipro, Odesa, Kyiv and 6 de-occupied villages of Kharkiv region.

Support of benefactors

At the beginning of the year, the Unilever company joined the implementation of the project with hot kitchens, which for its part provided products to maintain cleanliness in the premises where the food preparation process takes place. Only in the first quarter of 2024, the company transferred more than 300 units of means for disinfection and surface cleaning, floor cleaning, washing gels of such brands as Domestos, Cif, SAVO and Coccolino.

"Thanks to the supply of household chemicals from Unilever, we can maintain cleanliness in the kitchens where food is prepared for people in need. This is extremely important, because cleanliness and hygiene are the key to safe and quality food. We are sincerely grateful to Unilever for their responsibility and care about people," says

Yulia Lemberg, General Director of FoodBank Ukraine.

Why is the work of humanitarian kitchens so important?

Hot kitchens provide free meals to thousands of single people, families with children, IDPs, people with disabilities and vulnerable populations living in war conditions. In addition, these kitchens become a place where people can warm up, socialize and receive emotional support.

"We understand how important the work of hot kitchens is and the delivery of warm food to places where people cannot prepare it themselves.

The issue of hygiene and maintaining cleanliness in cooking areas is also equally important. The products of our brands easily cope with this task, and we are glad to be useful for this initiative,"

says Svitlana Nikiforets, brand manager of Unilever Ukraine.

Unilever plans to further support the initiative and Ukrainians cared for by the foundation.
