Tech corporation Meta, which owns Facebook and Instagram, is exploring the possibilities of introducing a subscription to both social networks for its users in Europe.

Various subscription fees are being discussed, but the most real is 10 euros per month, Reuters reported, citing a representative familiar with the situation.

Those who subscribe will use ad-free versions of Facebook and Instagram. The proposal is an attempt by Meta to circumvent European Union regulations that may limit the company's ability to offer users personalized ads without their consent. This would limit the main source of revenue of the American corporation.

Offering users the choice between a free and paid version of Facebook and Instagram is expected to help Meta comply with EU regulations without restricting its advertising business.

A paid subscription to versions of the two mobile social networks would be even more expensive (13 euros a month), as Meta would also include commissions charged by Apple's Apple Google online app stores, the Wall Street Journal said.
